Abstract: The Phosphorite Unit in NW-Jordan consists of bedded phosphates,phosphatic marls,phosphatic chert and few sterilie associated interbeds .it has of a thickness up to 11.5m,from whivh about 3-5.5m are phosphate .it is of late campanian to early maastrichtain in age.all phosphate beds in NW-Jordan are reworked phosphates, deposited as wackstone to packstone or grainstone in inner shelf environment and consisting of the allochems intraclasts , dioclasts (mostly fish fragments ) and peloids and of matrix consisting of carbonate micrite or cement or cherty cement.
