Abstract: This paper investigates whether the value of the Jordanian companies that both pay dividends and engage in new equity financing is greater than that of other companies that only pay dividends . Applying a simple model on 15 financial companies and 45 industrial companies all listed in amman financial market during the period 1991 throgh october 1994 . the evidence supporrts the notion that issuing companies have than nonissuing companies . companies pay dividends before making new possibly to insure full coverage for the issue and to insure high issue permium.
